CSC Kosovo accepted as a member of MDS Alliance.
On 16 June 2018, Dr. Blerina Ahmetaj-Shala and Dr. Fisnik Shala presented the work of CSC Kosovo at the 23rd Congress of EHA to MDS patients, pharmaceutical representatives and other MDS Alliance stakeholders. After careful consolidation with all MDS Alliance members, we are pleased to announce that we were accepted into the umbrella organization. As a member of this Alliance, we will campaign together and join forces to increase support to MDS patients, caregivers and share best-practice and skills with health professionals. European Hematology Association (EHA) meeting in Stockholm welcomes CSC Kosovo for the first time.
Members of the CSC Kosovo team attended the 23rd Congress of EHA. This conference offered a program covering every sub-specialty in hematology, as well as network opportunities with experts from all over the globe. The educational and scientific program highlighted state-of-the-art clinical practice, the latest findings in hematology research and many more interesting sessions. The Congress also provided satellite programs, updates-in-Hematology and an exhibition organized by pharmaceutical companies. The ‘patient advocacy hub’ was an excellent area to meet other patient advocates and share experiences. We particularly enjoyed our discussion with Mira Armour, co-founder of Mijelom CRO, a support group for patients suffering from Myeloma in Croatia. Sharing her knowledge and experience with us enabled us to appreciate that the challenges experienced in Kosovo are not dissimilar to those in Croatia and also Bosnia and Herzegovina.
